Work force, tax issues still looming for Ohio's Manufacturers
In article on the health of Ohio's manufacturing industry, which received a solid "B" in the 2015 Manufacturing & Logistics Report Card issued by the Center for Business and Economic Research at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, Beth-Anne Schuelke-Leech, OMI director of manufacturing innovation and policy, stated:
Many young people lack an understanding of how machines operate and the role that manufacturing plays in the economy and their lives, said Ohio State University professor Beth-Anne Schuelke-Leech. She is director of manufacturing innovation and policy at the OSU-based Ohio Manufacturing Institute.
“They shouldn’t just equate technology with (computer) programming,” she said. “It’s about making things, too. And when you talk about entrepreneurship, people think it’s about going out and starting a high-tech computer business. It can also be about starting a machine shop.”
